A drawn-out weather event that could bring more than a foot of snow to some Maine communities by Tuesday will start dropping snow Saturday night, according to Portland television station WGME, CBS 13.
Meteorologist Craig Miller said light snow will move into the state tonight and extend throughout the state until Tuesday morning. Most of southern Maine will pick up 3 to 5 inches through Sunday night with the steadiest snowfall coming Monday. An additional half foot to a foot is possible Monday into early Tuesday. The series of storm systems could drop even more than that in southern York County and southern New Hampshire. Northern Maine is likely to get 2 to 4 inches through Tuesday and the Bangor area is likely to see 4 to 8 inches, according to the CBS 13 forecast.
Sunshine returns to some parts Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday before another storm brings more snow on Thursday, Miller said. Another arctic blast moves in after that storm.
