BANGOR, Maine — Colby-Sawyer used a 17-2 second-half scoring run to pull away for a 65-46 North Atlantic Conference men’s basketball victory over Husson University on Saturday afternoon.

Peter Donato scored 17 points to lead the Chargers (14-5, 12-3 NAC), who take over the top spot in the standings. Zach Bean and Wol Majong each had eight rebounds and scored 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Trevon Butler was the lone double-figure scorer for the Eagles (15-5, 11-3 NAC) with 12 points. Jacob Moore added nine points.

UMF 67, Johnson St. 52

At Farmington on Saturday, Nick Hilton poured in a career-best 27 points to power the Beavers to a North Atlantic Conference win over the Badgers.

Eric Berry provided nine points and six rebounds for the University of Maine-Farmington (6-15, 6-9 NAC).

Rob Hazard led Johnson State (3-18, 3-11 NAC) with 14 points, while Ron Adrian and Demetrius slide logged 11 points each.

NEC 64, MMA 58

At Castine on Saturday, the Pilgrims made their free throws in the final seconds to hold on for a North Atlantic Conference win over the Mariners.

Dezron Wilson propelled New England College (11-10, 8-6 NAC) with 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Joel DeMadet scored 16 points and Ryan Schmitz tallied 10 points.

Nick Holt tossed in 18 points to pace Maine Maritime Academy (2-19, 1-13 NAC). Brendan Newcomb provided 12 points while Tyler Thayer and Jason Hatch (11 rebounds) added nine points each.

SMCC 74, UM-Machias 59

At Machias on Saturday, Atencio Martin and Tyheem Simon spearheaded the Seawolves with 16 and 15 points, respectively, in a win over the Clippers.

Jordan DeRosby and Grayson Waterman each put in 10 points for Southern Maine Community College of South Portland.

Antwan Ruise went 10-for-13 from the foul line on his way to a game-high 20 points for the University of Maine-Machias. Floyd Higgins added nine points and seven rebounds.

UM-Machias 98, Hampshire 51

At Machias on Sunday, Floyd Higgins and Antwan Ruise each scored 14 points to help the Clippers roll to the win.

Tyler Rubin and Brian Getchell each added 12 points for the Clippers.

Miro Serrell Freed paced Hampshire with 19 points.

Lyndon St. 76, Thomas 56

At Waterville on Saturday, the Hornets used an early 18-0 run to subdue the Terriers in a North Atlantic Conference contest.

Rontrez Purcell scored a game-high 17 points and Robert Alers contributed 16 points for Lyndon State (8-12, 7-7 NAC). George Carle registered a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Adam Carlsen and Eric Westbrooks tallied 13 points each for Thomas (9-12, 7-7 NAC), with Mike Akanji and Levi Barnes posted 10 points apiece.

Women’s Basketball

Colby-Sawyer 68, Husson 43

At Bangor on Saturday, Colby-Sawyer manufactured a 26-8 run to close out the first half en route to a North Atlantic Conference win over Husson University.

Lexi Iannone scored 15 points to propel the Chargers (12-9, 8-6 NAC). Kelsey Cahill contributed 12 points, eight rebounds and six steals, Katie McCarthy and Jessica Shenkel scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, and Kristin Ellis provided nine points, 13 rebounds and five assists.

Stephanie Comstock paced Husson (13-7, 11-3 NAC) with 14 points, Chandler Guerrette netted 11 and Victoria McIntyre pulled down 13 rebounds.

UMFK 94, Fisher 61

At Fort Kent on Saturday, Sam Carapellucci dominated to the tune of 27 points, 13 rebounds and five assists as the Bengals rolled past the Falcons.

Ericka Saucier provided 20 points and eight rebounds and Danielle Carrillo connected for 21 points for the University of Maine-Fort Kent (13-6).

Twins Murphy Carroll and Madison Carroll spearheaded the effort for Fisher (3-17) with 18 points each.

UMF 56, Johnson St. 47

At Farmington on Saturday, the Beavers overcame a seven-point second-half deficit to earn a North Atlantic Conference victory over the Badgers.

Meghan Smith led the University of Maine-Farmington (10-11, 9-5 NAC) with 12 points and Kelly Pomerleau provided 11 points, five rebounds and five assists. Lindsay Ranquist scored 10 points and Elizabeth Ferry pulled down 12 rebounds.

Brittany Robertson hit five 3-pointers and led Johnson State (6-13, 6-8 NAC) with 15 points.

NEC 76, MMA 54

At Castine on Saturday, the Pilgrims peeled off a 13-0 run in the first half on the way to a North Atlantic Conference win over the Mariners.

Kayla Lawlor led New England College (16-5, 10-4 NAC) with 22 points, while Taylor Burgess contributed 16 points and eight rebounds. Tiffany Davis grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and added eight points.

Mary Badeen’s 16 points and five rebounds paced Maine Maritime Academy (9-12, 6-8 NAC). Kristi Willey scored 13 points and Maggie McConkey chipped in with 12 points.

Lyndon St. 67, Thomas 50

At Waterville, the Hornets outrebounded the Terriers 54-37 and made 20 free throws to post the NAC victory on Saturday.

Aimee Thompson led Lyndon State (6-15, 5-9 NAC) with 13 points, while Sarah Cornell and Allison Brown provided 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Sarah Pepin’s game-high 17 points coming off the bench was tops for Thomas College.
