Development Day

BANGOR — The Bangor Area Chapter of IAAP will hold its sixth annual Administrative Professionals Development Day on Friday, April 10, at the Cross Insurance Center.

Greg Creech of Techedutainment Services Inc., based Atlanta, will give two presentations

featuring his unique blend of technology, humor and education. Learn more about him at

gregcreech.com.  Local expert, Lindsay Collins of St. Joseph Healthcare also will give a presentation.

In addition to professional education sessions, attendees will enjoy morning snacks, a luncheon and networking opportunities.

Event organizers are seeking donations of door prizes and gift bag items, and sponsors at any level.

Free workshop

BANGOR — Eastern Maine Development Corporation will host a panel of experts 2-4 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at the Bangor Savings Bank Eames Center on Maine Avenue. The topic of the discussion will be “It’s Who You Know: Entrepreneurship 101.”

The discussion will introduce the people, organizations and other resources necessary to turn an idea into a business. Organizations on the panel will include Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community, Penquis-MaineStream, SCORE and Small Business Development Centers.

Meat cutting competition

BANGOR — Master meat cutter Rick Watson of Bangor will compete Feb. 24-25 in the Texas Roadhouse National Meat Cutting Competition in Kissimmee, Florida. He will be vying with more than 450 professional meat cutters for a prize of $20,000.
