PHIPPSBURG, Maine — Two men were hospitalized Sunday evening after their pickup trucks collided head-on near the causeway on Route 209 that connects Bath to Phippsburg.
William J. McHugh, 32, of Phippsburg, driving a red pickup truck, apparently attempted to pass another car in the northbound lane and collided head-on with a green Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 25-year-old Logan M. Callan of Woolwich, Phippsburg Police Chief John Skroski said Monday.
Both men were able to extricate themselves from the trucks and were taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick with minor injuries. Their conditions were not immediately available on Monday. Both trucks were totalled Skroski said.
A woman was riding in Callen’s vehicle at the time of the collision, but Skroski had no information on Callan’s passenger or her condition.
Skroski said the crash remains under investigation. Route 209 was closed for approximately an hour, he said.
