WATERVILLE, Maine — A Fairfield man was not seriously injured Tuesday night after his snowmobile was struck by a vehicle on West River Road, police said.
Keith Howe was riding alongside the road, traveling north, according to Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey, but when he attempted to cross, he was struck by a car driven by Dana Wands of China.
Rumsey said riding alongside the road is not against the law. With a lot of trails in that part of the city, it’s not uncommon to see snowmobiles in the area, he said.
Howe complained of wrist pain and was brought to Inland Hospital for observation, and Wands was not injured, Rumsey said.
The accident tied up evening rush hour traffic while crews worked at the scene. The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m.
No charges are expected to be filed.
