The impending snowstorm has caused changes for some high school postseason events scheduled for Saturday and Monday, according to a Maine Principals’ Association news release.
The girls state ice hockey final has been moved up to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston. Western Maine champ Falmouth (16-4) will take on Eastern Maine titlist Lewiston (19-0-1).
The start times for the Class A and B state indoor track and field championships have been moved back on Monday. Both meets will start at noon with the Class A meet at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham and the Class B meet at Bates College in Lewiston.
No changes have been made for the basketball schedules at Augusta and Bangor, but two Western Maine Class A boys quarterfinal games have been moved from Saturday to Monday. Possible changes at the other sites will be made no later than noon Saturday.
The West A boys games set for Monday at the Portland Expo are No. 3 Falmouth vs. No. 11 Westbrook (10 a.m.) and No. 2 South Portland vs. No. 7 Cheverus (11:30 a.m.).
An extra day has been added for the state swimming and diving championships: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Class B boys, University of Maine in Orono; 1:30 p.m. Monday, Class B girls, University of Maine in Orono; 10 a.m. Tuesday, Class A girls, Bowdoin College, Brunswick; and 10 a.m. Wednesday, Class A boys, Bowdoin College, Brunswick.
The three state wrestling championships will still begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, but the consolation finals and championship finals will run simultaneously.
The Class A wrestling meet is set for Mount Ararat in Topsham, the Class B meet is at Fryeburg Academy and the Class C meet is at Bucksport.
Some college games also have been changed. The University of Maine men’s hockey game has been moved up to 4 p.m. Saturday against Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts.
The UMaine women’s ice hockey game at Boston College has been moved to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Bowdoin has moved its women’s hockey game against Hamilton and its men’s basketball game against Bates to 2 p.m. Saturday.
