BANGOR, Maine — A local woman pleaded guilty to a drug charge in U.S. District Court on Friday.

Krystal Bell, 28, of Bangor in May admitted to investigators that she went to the St. Albans post office to pick up bath salts mailed to Maine from China, according to the prosecution version of events to which she pleaded guilty.

She pleaded guilty to one count of possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Bell said she was picking up the drug for another person, but that person was not named in court documents.

Assistant Attorney General Joel Casey declined Friday to comment on whether anyone else would be charged in the investigation.

Bell, who has been held without bail since her arrest in November, faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $1 million.

A sentencing date has not been set.
