EDGECOMB, Maine — A Brewer woman was taken to a hospital in Damariscotta on Wednesday with complaints of chest pain after a collision at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 27 in Edgecomb, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Gilbert.
Stephanie Hamlin, 46, of Brewer, was driving a red Subaru Outback north on Route 27. As Hamlin was attempting to stop at the Route 1 intersection, her vehicle slid past the stop sign and into Route 1 traffic, striking a northbound silver Toyota Tacoma pickup, Gilbert said.
Hamlin was likely traveling too fast for the snowy conditions, Gilbert said.
The collision was reported shortly before 8 a.m.
The truck’s operator, Neil Larrabee, 35, of Wiscasset, was uninjured and was later able to drive his vehicle from the scene, Gilbert said.
Both operators were wearing seat belts, and Hamlin’s impact with the seat belt was likely the cause of her chest pain, Gilbert said.
Neither driver received a summons related to the incident, and both vehicles were insured, Gilbert said.
The Wiscasset Ambulance Service took Hamlin to LincolnHealth-Miles Campus in Damariscotta for treatment.
Traffic was reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic on Route 1. Edgecomb firefighters provided traffic control.
