Did you graduate from the University of Maine and remain in the area, or are you still a current student there? If so, a team of researchers wants your input. We want to know what makes you more likely to stay in the Bangor area.

This semester, undergraduate students from UMaine are conducting research in collaboration with the city of Bangor and city councilors Ben Sprague and Gibran Graham. They are working with me to examine what makes recent graduates from UMaine settle within the greater Bangor area.

This information will help decision makers in Bangor craft strategies to grow our community and keep more talented young people in our local communities.

If you are a graduate of UMaine that has settled in the Bangor area, or if you are a current student of the University of Maine, the research team would like your input. Please take the brief survey available at this link.

All responses will be anonymous. You also can learn more about your protections as a participant in the survey. As a thank you for your participation you will have the option of entering a drawing to win one of multiple $25 gift cards to Harvest Moon Deli in Bangor.

In addition, if you would be interested in participating in an hour-long focus group discussing these issues in more depth, please contact undergraduate researcher Sarah Nicols at Sarah.Nicols@umit.maine.edu.

The research will be wrapping up in mid to late April, and key findings and policy suggestions will be presented before Bangor City Council and distributed publicly via the Bangor Daily News.
