ROCKLAND, Maine — The Region 8 vocational school board gave unanimous approval Wednesday night to a budget that will go on to voters.
The $3,367,518 proposed budget for 2015-16 is about 2.3 percent more than the current budget.
If approved by voters, the Five-Town Community School District based in Camden would pay the largest share of expenses for the Mid-Coast School of Technology, though its assessment is projected to drop nearly $38,000 to less than $1.1 million.
Regional School Unit 13 based in Rockland would pay nearly $973,000, representing about a $16,000 increase.
RSU 40 based in Union would pay nearly $709,000, an increase of about $80,000.
Vinalhaven would pay $97,000, about $3,000 more; Islesboro would pay nearly $57,000, a $3,600 increase; and North Haven would pay nearly $23,000, which is close to a $4,000 increase.
The costs are distributed locally based on the number of sophomores, juniors and seniors that each school has in its high school and not the number of students from those districts who attend the Mid-Coast School of Technology.
Each school district’s share of the vocational budget will be presented to voters during the annual district budget meetings, many of which are held in June.
