ROCKLAND, Maine — The executive director of the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce will be leaving the position in three weeks.
Staci Coomer submitted a letter of resignation to the board of directors, Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce board President Michael Hall announced Thursday in a news release. He said Coomer has accepted a job in the Washington, D.C., area.
Coomer’s last day with the chamber will be March 20.
“The PBRCC board appreciates Staci’s hard work and dedication. She has helped build relationships with local business owners, community leaders and regional organizations,” said Hall.
The board has established a search committee and will begin looking for Coomer’s replacement in the coming weeks.
Coomer has held the chamber post since October 2012. She moved to the region in 2005 when she became vice president of development for Pen Bay Healthcare in Rockport. Previously, she had worked in health care development for organizations in the Midwest.
The Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce is the result of a 2011 merger of the Rockland-Thomaston Area Chamber and the Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville Chamber, which had a combined membership of about 1,000.
