The owners of a Snap Fitness franchise in Brewer have filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, owing about $37,500 in unpaid rent and membership fees to 17 customers.

Jundt Family Fitness LLC, owned by Timothy and Carla Jundt, filed for bankruptcy protection Friday after eight years in business. The company declared about $80,000 in debts and $26,500 in assets, all in fitness equipment.

That equipment was purchased through a $34,729 loan from Bangor Savings, which will be first in line to receive any money from the fitness center’s liquidation.

The rest of the company’s $45,846 in debt was unsecured, owed in rent, utilities and to members of the fitness center. Membership fees make up about $2,000 of that debt.

Nobody answered the phone at the business Monday and the attorney for the business was not immediately available for comment.

Jundt Family Fitness was registered in 2007 and in operation since that time, according to the bankruptcy filing. One year ago, the business was listed for sale, an offer that included the business’ equipment and memberships.

The asking price at the time was not listed.
