University of Maine senior left wing Connor Leen has signed a contract with the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL.

Leen had 10 goals and 7 assists in 37 games this season. He was the team’s seventh-leading point-getter.

He was third on the team in shots on goal with 102 and tied for third in goals.

The 22-year-old Leen was the team’s third-leading scorer in 2013-14 with 6 & 17 in 34 games.

He concluded his Black Bear career with 24 goals and 29 assists in 120 games.

The 5-foot-9, 165-pound native of Chester, New Jersey, had the first two-goal game of his career in the 4-2 win over Vermont in game two of their best-of-three Hockey East first round series last weekend in Burlington, Vermont.

Leen was an inspirational player because he was able to carve out a productive career despite being afflicted with Crohn’s disease.

That limited him to 22 games his freshman year and 27 his sophomore season.

He he did play in 71 of 74 games his last two seasons.

“Connor was a good player here and a big-time competitor in the finest tradition of Maine hockey,” said Maine coach Red Gendron. “I’m delighted that he is getting this opportunity.”

Leen left on Thursday morning and couldn’t be reached for comment.

The Condors were scheduled to play the Utah Grizzlies on Friday night in Bakersfield, California.
