BELFAST, Maine — A security camera outside a Belfast home captured photographic evidence last week of illegal trash dumping on private property, and police are asking for the public’s help to find the perpetrator.
The person or persons involved apparently drove to the property in a dark-colored pickup truck sometime between 12:39 and 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11. Detective Sgt. Bryan Cunningham of the Belfast Police Department said police don’t want to release the location of the dump site.
Among the items disposed of were old windshield washer jugs full of used oil, asphalt shingles, wood, insulation, a carpet pad and an old, upright vacuum cleaner.
“It’s not just the dumping of the garbage. It’s what was in it,” Cunningham said this week. “It’s not good for the environment.”
