BIDDEFORD, Maine — David Labonte, the man accused of driving into a family on bicycles, pleaded guilty to all charges Wednesday morning and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

In 2013 Labonte, who was under the influence, drove into a family on bicycles in Biddeford, killing Jamerico Elliot, and injuring his 17-month-old son Lavarice Elliott and the boy’s mother, Melodie Brennan.

A witness spoke in court saying his wife was injured as a result and is still feeling the effects.

Labonte was also given a chance to speak, saying he knows he won’t ever receive forgiveness but he wants the families affected to know he’s sorry.

The judge said earlier convictions for drinking and driving led him to order a longer sentence for Labonte.

If Labonte violates probation in any way once he gets out he’ll go back to prison for 5 years.
