Bill Carmody will be named the new men’s basketball head coach at Holy Cross, according to multiple reports Wednesday.
An announcement by the Patriot League school is planned for Thursday. Carmody would replace Milan Brown, who was dismissed after the Crusaders posted a 14-16 record in 2014-15.
The 63-year-old Carmody was a head coach for 17 years at Princeton and Northwestern, leading teams to two NCAA and six NIT tournament berths and 284 wins. He was fired by Northwestern in 2013.
Still, daughter Leah celebrate good news
Defensive tackle Devon Still and 4-year-old daughter Leah, who has been battling Stage 4 pediatric cancer, received some great news.
Still, a free agent who hopes to re-sign with the Cincinnati Bengals, said after nine months of treatment, his daughter may be free of cancer.
Leah was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer last June — and her fight inspired millions across the nation.
Still made the announcement Tuesday night on Instagram:

LeBron’s shoes outsell others by wide margin
As NBA shoe salesmen go, LeBron James is still the king among active players.
The Cleveland Cavaliers star is nowhere near Michael Jordan in overall sales, but Nike moved $340 million worth of James’ signature line in the past 12 months through January, according to Forbes. James makes an estimated $20 million a year from Nike.
His shoe sales are up 13 percent over the previous year and more than double the next-closest current NBA player, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant, whose signature shoes had sales of $195 million in 2014.
Jordan’s Air Jordan brand sales rose 17 percent in 2014 to $2.6 million and captured 58 percent of the market. Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul, one of the active players who wears the Jordan brand, had $32 million in sales.
Bills announce signing of Harvin
The Buffalo Bills announced the signing of wide receiver Percy Harvin on Wednesday.
The team did not disclose terms of the deal, but it was reported last week as a one-year contract worth $6 million.
The Bills will be Harvin’s fourth team in three years after the New York Jets released him rather than pay his $10.5 million salary for 2015. He finished last season with 29 catches for 350 yards and a touchdown and has 332 catches for 3,802 yards and 31 total touchdowns in his six-year career.
Jury clears Gault of purposely defrauding investors
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A California jury on Wednesday cleared former Chicago Bears wide receiver Willie Gault of intentionally defrauding investors in a scheme to inflate the price of stock in the heart-monitoring device company Heart Tronics.
The jury’s verdict found Gault, 54, not liable on four serious civil fraud charges, including intent to defraud and aiding and abetting fraud.
The jury did find he was liable for three other less serious charges, including that he violated provisions in the 2002 Sarbanes-Oxley law by filing false certifications in connection with the company’s financial statements.
Gault played 11 season in the National Football League, winning the Super Bowl with the Chicago Bears in 1985. He was also a member of the U.S. Olympic team that boycotted the 1980 Moscow Games.
Ravens cut Pierce after DUI arrest
The Baltimore Ravens released running back Bernard Pierce on Wednesday after he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence earlier in the morning.
The Baltimore County police told the Baltimore Sun that Pierce was pulled over for speeding just before 2 a.m. and failed field sobriety tests. He reportedly was driving 55 mph in a 30 mph zone.
Pierce has been with the Ravens for three years. The former third-round pick ran 93 times for 366 yards and two touchdowns last season.
Heat sign Beasley
The Miami Heat signed forward Michael Beasley for the remainder of the season on Wednesday.
Beasley has appeared in 10 games with the Heat this season, averaging 9.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 22.9 minutes. He has scored in double-figures five times, including a season-high 18 points against Sacramento on March 7.
Beasley, a six-year NBA veteran, has appeared in 419 career games (199 starts), averaging 13.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 24.8 minutes.
Falcons re-sign Biermann
The Atlanta Falcons re-signed defensive end Kroy Biermann on Wednesday. Terms were not disclosed.
Biermann, 29, started 15 games last season and set a career high with 80 tackles to go along with 4.5 sacks and three passes defensed. It was a rebound season for Biermann, who missed the final 14 games in 2013 due to an Achilles injury.
