BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police are continuing to investigate a stabbing on Market Street that left one person injured Friday, Sgt. Tim Cotton, spokesman for the department, said Monday.

“The investigation is ongoing, but an arrest is not imminent,” he said.

Cotton also said that the stabbing was not consider to be a random event and the public is not in danger.

The stabbing at 89 Market St., which was reported about 3:45 p.m., left one person injured, Deputy Police Chief Brad Johnston said in statement Friday.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment; information about the person’s medical condition was not released. Sgt. Rob Angelo said Saturday that he did not know whether the person was still in the hospital.

No additional information was available Monday, Cotton said.

A suspect and witnesses have been identified and were interviewed by detectives Friday night, according to a previously published report.
