BANGOR, Maine — Husson University pitchers limited Colby-Sawyer to one run in 14 innings Saturday, setting the tone for a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader sweep at the Winkin Complex.

Dan Whitney pitched six innings of five-hit ball in the Eagles’ 6-1 win in the first game, then Brandon Reilly worked six shutout innings, allowing two hits, in Husson’s 9-0 victory in the nightcap.

Husson came back on Sunday to notch two more wins over Colby-Sawyer 6-1 and 6-0.

Husson is now 8-7 overall and 6-0 in the NAC while Colby-Sawyer slipped to 0-14 and 0-6.

In Game 2 Saturday, Reilly struck out four and walked three to get his first win of the season. Tommy Burns worked a scoreless seventh.

Brandon Gendreau and Kyle Bishop each stroked a solo home run and a single to pace the offense, while Zach Sugar and Darik Messier each doubled and singled and knocked in a run. J.T. Whitten added two singles with an RBI for the winners (6-7, 4-0 NAC), who scored two runs in the third, then added three each in the next two innings.

Justin Devoid doubled for the Chargers (0-12, 0-4 NAC) behind starter and loser Mike Peters.

In the opener, Whitney (1-1) fanned three and walked one before giving way to Zak Kochis, who worked a perfect inning in relief.

Jordan Carter singled twice and drove in two runs, while Christian Corneil (RBI) and Ryan Rebar each posted two singles. Bishop and Whitten each had a run-scoring single.

Drew Inglesi singled twice to lead Colby-Sawyer.

In Sunday’s first game, Husson jumped out to a fast start with three first-inning runs, highlighted by JT Whitten’s sacrifice fly and Christian Corneil’s RBI single.

Husson added three more in the third when Carter hit an RBI single and Zach Sugar plated two more on a double to right.

Ben Walls (2-1) earned the win for Husson as he allowed one run on three hits and three strikeouts in six innings.

In the second game, Ben Holmes pitched five scoreless innings to earn the win for Husson as he gave up four hits and a walk and struck out four.

The Eagles jumped in front early again with a five-run first inning that included a three-run home run by Corneil and Andrew Curran’s RBI single..

Lawrence sweeps Thomas

At Auburndale, Florida, Lawrence University scored three runs in the eighth inning en route to a 8-7 victory in the first game and a sweep of its doubleheader against Thomas College of Waterville.

The Vikings won the second game 7-4.

In the opener, Travis Weber doubled and singled with three RBIs to help Lawrence overcome an early 5-0 deficit. Carl Olsen plated two runs with a pair of singles.

Christopher Esquivel collected three singles and an RBI for the Terriers, while Beau Ewton (2 RBIs), Anree Benitez, Derek Kane and Ryder Kenney chipped in with two hits apiece.

UMPI, Gallaudet split

At Washington on Friday, Matt Curry allowed only three hits to shut out Gallaudet to give the University of Maine-Presque Isle a 3-0 win the in the first game of a doubleheader.

Gallaudet (2-13) tipped UMPI (2-2) in the second game 1-0.

Curry, a freshman, allowed only one walk and struck out eight to earn his first NCAA victory.

Adam Begos recorded an RBI single for UMPI.

Gallaudet’s Ben Coleman held UMPI to three hits in the second game while giving up five walks and striking out five.

Saul Nunez was the tough-luck losing pitcher as he scattered six hits over six innings. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out three.

Zack Crawford hit an RBI double in the fourth inning for Gallaudet and Aaron Kofstad had two hits for UMPI.

Men’s Lacrosse

Husson 16, Lyndon State 8

At Boucher Field in Bangor on Saturday, Brandon Corbo and Zack Glazier each scored four goals to power the Eagles to a North Atlantic Conference victory.

Trent Sell posted three goals and an assist, while Derek Driscoll (assist) and Brett Martin tallied two goals each. Jack White scored once for Husson University (3-3, 2-0 NAC), while Brandon Bosse, James Seager and Corbo each notched an assist.

Tom Lepage made 10 saves and Andrew Tarr had two for the Eagles.

Ian Pelkey paced Lyndon State (0-3, 0-3 NAC) with three goals and two assists. Kevin McCarthy scored twice and Shane Morin made 18 saves.

Castleton 19, Thomas 1

At Waterville on Saturday, Zach Davidson racked up three goals and three assists and Micky Prozinsky scored three goals to carry the Spartans to a North Atlantic Conference win over the Terriers.

Sam Siegel and Taylor Swarter each provided two goals and two assists for Castleton State (4-4, 3-0 NAC). Peter Latulippe made eight saves.

Colby Blondin scored unassisted for Thomas (0-6, 0-3 NAC). Liam Salus and Connor Lamberton teamed up to made 24 saves.

Women’s Lacrosse

Colby-Sawyer 8, Husson 7

At New London, New Hampshire, Carly Baker scored her third goal of the game with 1:52 remaining Saturday to lift the Chargers to a North Atlantic Conference victory.

Alyssia Janak and Nichole Danehy each had a goal and two assists for Colby-Sawyer (3-2, 3-0 NAC). Meghan Castellano made five saves.

Husson University of Bangor (2-3, 1-1 NAC) was led by two goals and two assists from Alissa Fallon. Abi Staab scored twice, Michaela Bicknell had a goal and an assist and Anna Wolterbeek and Mattie Russell each netted a goal.

Abby Greenleaf and Jess Poulin combined to make eight saves.

Softball

Chicago sweeps Thomas

At Clermont, Florida, Molly Moran fired a four-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in the second game to help the University of Chicago sweep Thomas College of Waterville.

The Phoenix took the nightcap 7-0 after winning the opener 7-2.

Chicago backed Moran with 14 hits, including a double, two singles and two RBIs from Kathleen Kohm and three singles from Anna Woolery.

Losing pitcher Emily McKenney had one of her team’s four singles.

In Game 1, Tabbetha Bohac spaced seven hits and two runs and struck out eight for Chicago.

Alyssa Stolmack plated two runs with a double and a single and Devan Parkison singled three times.

Brianna Warren tripled and singled with an RBI to pace Thomas. Losing pitcher Sonja Morse and Alyssa Eugley each doubled.
