WISCASSET, Maine — A 17-year-old Wiscasset boy already on probation for burglary was arrested Friday and charged with burglarizing the home of a Wiscasset High School staff member whose driveway he shoveled.

The staff member told School Resource Officer Perry Hatch on March 4 and then again on March 10 that her home on Chewonki Neck Road had been burglarized, and she suspected the boy who was shoveling for her, according to a release from Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division set up surveillance equipment and allegedly caught the male on video and in still photographs in the garage. Hatch also allegedly located photographs of the stolen items on the Internet, which were allegedly listed for sale by the same boy.

The boy was arrested at his home on Friday and charged with one count of Class B burglary, two counts of Class C burglary and Class C theft.

At the time of the arrest, he was on probation for another burglary handled by Cline last year, according to the release. The boy was taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center.

Later on Friday, Wiscasset police and sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at the boy’s home and allegedly recovered some of the items.
