Plein Air Festival

CASTINE — The Castine Arts Association announced that its third annual Plein Air Festival will be held July 23-25 in Castine. Forty juried artists will participate in the festival.

Activities will commence with artist registration at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, July 23, at the Castine Town Common on Court Street.

Over the course of the festival, the public will have the opportunity to observe and visit the artists as they paint their interpretations of Castine’s waterfront, Federal architecture, forts and other landscapes.

The event will conclude July 25 with judging and an exhibition, followed by a sale of the original art created during festival. The public is invited to attend the sale and reception, hosted by the Castine Arts Association.  A reception and sale will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at the Maine Maritime Academy Harborview Room. All art created during the festival will be framed, on display and available for purchase.

Admission to the festival, including the sale and reception, is free to the public.

Vacation Art Program

HAMPDEN — Windover Art Center Vacation Art Program for children age 6 and up will take place 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 20-24, at Hampden Congregational Church. The cost is $50 per day or $200 for the week.
