WISCASSET, Maine — Two inmates at Two Bridges Regional Jail have been charged with filing a false sexual assault complaint against a female corrections officer.
Brandon Knowles, 25, of the Bangor area allegedly told jail staff that, while he was in a secluded area of the jail, the corrections officer touched his genitals without his permission, according to a release from Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Michael Murphy.
Jail staff reported the complaint to Detective Terry Michaud of the sheriff’s office.
A second inmate, Cory Breen, 26, of the Belfast area allegedly corroborated the report and said he was in the same area when the alleged assault took place.
Michaud investigated the report, including reviewing security footage and conducting numerous interviews. He concluded the complaint had been fabricated by the two men, according to the release, and that the alleged assault never occurred.
Knowles is serving six months for aggravated criminal mischief, burglary and terrorizing, according to jail staff. He was charged with filing a false public alarm/report.
Breen is serving an undetermined sentence for unlawful possession of oxycodone. He was charged with hindering investigation.
