PORTLAND, Maine — Police are searching for a man who allegedly held up a downtown movie theater at gunpoint, according to a statement.

The robbery occurred at Nickelodeon Cinemas around 10 p.m. Thursday, according to the statement. The robber had fled by the time police arrived.

The man allegedly displayed a handgun and demanded cash from a theater employee, fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.

The robber is described as a white male between the ages of 20 and 25, and stubble with either pockmarks or acne. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans, tan work boots and a brown beanie style hat.
