SACO, Maine — Next Level Church hosted a Helicopter Easter Egg Drop Sunday afternoon in Saco.

Next Level Church has put on the annual event for the last five years as part of an Easter experience. “I guess this would sort of be our Super Bowl if you want to put it that way,” said Matt McNutt, Next Level Church coordinator.

A little after 12 p.m. the helicopter swooped down over the field at Thornton Academy and moments later Easter eggs fell to the ground.

The helicopter made three different drops for a total of 100 kids who stuffed bags and pockets with candy loaded Easter eggs.

Each drop was intended for kids of different age groups that way every single child had a fair chance at getting plenty of eggs

The kids enjoyed the candy but for the adults it was something much more.

“It makes you feel like a part of the community,” Shannon Grant, Dayton resident, said.

McNutt added: “It’s not about the egg drop. It’s really about folks coming to church, experiencing Jesus and celebrating the fact that he’s risen today.”

There were also three egg drops held in New Hampshire.
