WARREN, Maine — A Ridge Road home was damaged by fire late Sunday morning.
Fire Chief Ed Grinnell said a propane stove is suspected of causing the fire that was reported by multiple neighbors at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted and an investigator is expected to inspect the scene Monday to confirm the cause, the chief said.
The fire started in one room in the upstairs of the home, he said. Fire and water damage was limited to that room thanks to the response of firefighters from Warren, Waldoboro and Union.
The home is owned by Robert and June Phillips. They were at church and no one was home when the fire broke out, he said.
The home will need to be cleaned because of heavy smoke but otherwise will be livable, the chief said.
Crews were at the scene until after 2 p.m.
