RICHMOND, Maine — A Richmond couple was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston Saturday morning after their car crashed into a small brook on Brown Road.
Gilbert Tarbox, 84, was taken by LifeFlight of Maine to the Lewiston hospital and his wife, Ruby Tarbox, 78, was taken by ambulance, Richmond Police Sgt. Doug Bellevue said.
According to Bellevue, Gilbert Tarbox went for a walk Saturday morning and Ruby Tarbox headed out to pick him up to go out to breakfast. After her husband got in the car, as Ruby Tarbox was helping him put his seatbelt on, police speculate she took her foot off the brake and perhaps stepped on the gas as well. The car traveled off the road into a small brook.
Bellevue said a passerby reported the crash shortly before 8 a.m. Police don’t know how much time lapsed before the crash was reported.
Gilbert Tarbox suffered a significant head laceration and was listed in serious condition on Saturday. Ruby Tarbox was taken to Central Maine Medical Center by ambulance with a complaint of pain. Her condition was not immediately available.
