Bone Health Group
BANGOR — Caring Connections will host its Bone Health Information and Discussion Group meeting at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, at the Bangor YMCA. Guest speaker will be Katie Mroz, who has a master’s degree in food science and human nutrition, has worked as a nutritionist in the community for more than seven years and enjoys counseling individuals and groups on topics such as balanced meal planning, weight maintenance and shopping for healthful foods on a budget. Her topic will be “Bone Up on Nutrition.”
The session is free and anyone interested in the topic is invited to attend. Caring Connections is a cooperative program of the Bangor YMCA and Eastern Maine Medical Center.

Council appointee
BANGOR — St. Joseph Healthcare announced recently that Mary Prybylo has been selected to join a select group of six members appointed this year to the Metropolitan Hospital Governing Council of the American Hospital Association.
“With health care in a constant state of change,” said Prybylo, “it is very important for our organization to have a voice in such a significant national forum.”
Prybylo has served as CEO of St. Joseph Healthcare in Bangor since 2011. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
CHADD meeting
BANGOR — The Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder, or CHADD, meeting will be held 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at the office of Barry Rubin, Bangor Family Counseling, Suite 335. 96 Harlow St. Discussion topic will be “Adults Living with ADHD: How to Cope with the Stresses.

BREWER — The Parkinson’s Disease Awareness and Education Conference, in celebration of National Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month, will be held 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Friday, April, 24, at Jeff’s Catering, 15 Littlefield Way. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
The event will feature neurologists Dr. Ed Drasby, Dr. Marcos Poulopoulos and Dr. William Stamey. Other speakers will focus on the benefits of exercise, Parkinson’s disease at home, care giving and support services.
The event also will offer informative exhibits along with free blood pressure screenings.
The cost to attend the conference is $15, $25 two people, and includes a boxed lunch. Advance registration is encouraged to ensure choice of lunch. Registration and payment will accepted on day of the event.

Weight management
CASTINE — Castine Community Health Services, a department of Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, will offer an eight-week weight management class 4:30-6 p.m. Thursdays, April 23-June 11, at CCHS.
Facilitator will be Social Worker Gordana Hassett and Nurse Raeann Hodgson.
The weekly class is designed to help participants learn how to manage their weight effectively. They will learn helpful techniques on how to lose weight and maintain an ideal weight by finding a balance between physical and emotional well-being.
The class is open to all community members who are advised to contact their primary care provider for a referral. For information, call Castine Community Health Services at 326-4348.
