ORONO — Orono Community Theatre’s next production is “The Jungle Book” by Joseph Robinette, adapted from the stories of Rudyard Kipling.  Under the direction of the theatre’s Artistic Director Sandy Cyrus, the cast of 16 local actors will take the audience through the wild jungles of India as well as to the 19th century English boarding school where a young Rudyard Kipling is toiling away on his masterwork about the boy raised by wolves.

Cast members include Tom Boss, Alana Cassinelli, Claire Ackroyd, Abbie Derosier, Jessie Walker, and Owen and Ruby Beane of Orono, Braeden Soule of Hampden, TellisCoolong of Milford, Callaghan Carter, and Elaine and Quinn Bard of Bangor, Julia Hathaway and Vetri Vel of Veazie, Jake Sherburne of Old Town, and Andrea Littlefield of Hermon. Set designer is Tricia Hobbs, with lighting design by Sandy Cyrus, and costume design by Hannah Cyrus.

Performances will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 30, and Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3, at the Keith Anderson Community House, 19 Bennoch Road, Orono.

Tickets are $12, $6 children kindergarten through grade 12. Advance tickets are available

at Orono Pharmacy or may be purchased at the door a half-hour before showtime.
