AURORA, Maine — A speed detail on Route 9 in Aurora on Monday resulted in 38 stops and several arrests, Lt. Roderick Charette of Maine State Police Troop J in Hancock County said Monday night in a news release.
After he was stopped for speeding, Chad Robinson, 29, of Charlotte was arrested on an outstanding warrant for unpaid fines and also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
In addition, Karyn Sawick, 34, of Robbinston and formerly of Machias, the driver of the car Robinson was riding in, was arrested for Class C felony possession of scheduled drugs after troopers found heroin in her possession, Charette said.
Sawick also was charged with Class B felony aggravated forgery for being in possession of $240 in counterfeit currency. Robinson and Sawick were taken to the Hancock County Jail, he said.
The case remains under investigation by Trooper Chris Smith, who is the lead investigator. Sgt. Timothy Varney and Troopers Bryan Creamer and Jacob Ferland assisted.
