BANGOR — Brandon Corbo scored five times and assisted on four more goals to power Husson University to a 23-6 men’s lacrosse victory over Wheelock College on Monday night at Boucher Field.
Brooks Gay tallied four goals for the Eagles (8-6), while Kevin Nolan provided three goals and two assists. Zack Glazier, Brett Martin and Derek Driscoll contributed two goals and an assist apiece and Brandon Bosse also scored twice.
Trent Sell chipped in with a goal and three assists to support Tom Lepage and Andrew Tarr, who combined to make 11 saves.
Donovan Riley Robinson netted all six goals for Wheelock (0-7), which received 29 saves from Collin Davis.
Baseball
Fisher sweeps UMF
At Farmington, Brian Rosa pitched a two-hit shutout in the second game and three pitchers combined on a shutout in the opener as Fisher swept a doubleheader from the University of Maine-Farmington.
The Falcons won the opener 10-0 and took the nightcap 4-0.
In Game 2, Rosa struck out five and did not walk a batter for Fisher (25-12). Yuliano Rodriguez drove in two runs with a pair of singles, while Dominic Zaher (solo home run, double, single) and Cody Mercier (2 singles) each had an RBI.
Chad Snowman doubled for the Beavers (14-10) behind losing pitcher Mark Leahy.
In the first game, Amarius Santana spaced five hits through four innings to set the tone for the Falcons. Jose Fortuna plated four runs with a home run and two singles, while Devin Perry rapped a double and a single with three RBIs.
Tom Grady singled twice to lead UMF.
Bowdoin 10, Thomas 4
At Brunswick, the Polar Bears took advantage of 10 walks by the Terriers to earn a nonconference victory.
Sean Mullaney paced Bowdoin (13-16) with a double, a single and three RBIs and Chad Martin added a run-producing double. Michael Staes gave up two hits and four walks but only two earned runs in 5⅓ innings. He struck out seven.
Nik Beeson and Matt Romandetti each had a single for Thomas College of Waterville (12-15).
Softball
Bates sweeps Fisher
At Lewiston, the Bobcats swept a nonleague doubleheader from the Falcons, winning 11-3 and 9-4.
In the first game, Karen Lockhart tripled twice and drove in two runs to lead Bates (5-17). Maddie Inlow tripled and doubled (RBI) and Brenna Callahan doubled and singled (RBI). Kelsey Freedman scattered five hits and struck out nine.
For Fisher College (6-25), Christine Briggs hit an RBI single.
In the nightcap, Lockhart’s two-run homer highlighted a five-run sixth that provided the winning margin for the Bobcats. She also doubled twice, while Victoria Fitzgerald posted a two-run single in the winning rally. Paige Ahlholm had a single and two RBIs to back winning pitcher Callahan.
Mikayla Zimmerman doubled and singled with three RBIs to lead Fisher.
