BELFAST, Maine — Police said an Illinois man suspected of driving under the influence Tuesday night got into a dispute with his passenger just before flipping his vehicle on Route 3.

Theodore Kekstadt, 44, of Wheeling, Illinois, was behind the wheel of the 2011 Hyundai, according to a media release from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Kevin Littlefield responded to the reported car accident near the Belmont-Morrill town line and found the Hyundai upside-down in a ditch.

After investigating, Littlefield arrested Kekstadt, charging him with operating under the influence of alcohol. The midwesterner was taken to Waldo County Jail in Belfast to be booked.
