BOWDOINHAM, Maine — A Bowdoinham man was arrested Friday in Richmond and charged by federal officials with downloading and possessing more than 150 images and videos of child pornography.
Daniel Lajoie Jr. was charged with possession of child pornography, a felony charge that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
In August 2012, Department of Homeland Security agents went to Lajoie’s residence, at the time in Randolph, where he allegedly admitted that he had searched for and downloaded child pornography onto his laptop while he was at his parents’ house in Oakland, according to an affidavit filed by Special Agent Loren Thresher of the Department of Homeland Security.
A search of Lajoie’s computer allegedly revealed more than 50 images and 110 videos of child pornography, including 18 of a child being sexually abused.
Lajoie was detained following an initial appearance Monday in U.S. District Court in Bangor. A detention hearing is set for Wednesday, also in Bangor.
