BANGOR, Maine — An Enfield man who was arrested on an arson charge after a fire in his hometown on Friday made his first appearance in court on Monday, the Penobscot County district attorney’s office said in an email.

Timothy Fitch, 48, was arrested by investigators with the fire marshal’s office and his bail was set at $3,560 in cash, a Penobscot County Jail official said just before 5 p.m. Monday.

“He’s in the process of getting out right now,” the corrections officer said.

A message left late in the day for the fire marshal’s office for details about the Enfield fire and what led them to Fitch were not immediately returned.
