Game notes: The Black Bears hope to get everything clicking during a four-game nonconference series against the NYIT Bears. UMaine is coming off Thursday’s 18-10 slugfest win at Lafayette. NYIT, which is a Division independent, went 2-3 against America East teams Binghamton and Albany in its last five contests. UMaine remains in last place in the league standings, but remains within striking distance of fourth place and a postseason spot with six AE games remaining. NYIT has struggled to a .227 team batting average while averaging 3.4 runs per game. Its team ERA is 6.21. Through Tuesday, the Black Bears were batting .278 (5.1 runs per game) and owned a 4.84 ERA.
