PRESQUE ISLE — Baseball for All, which seeks to empower young girls through the game of baseball, is forming a team from Maine for girls ages 11-13. The team, called the Maine Polar Bears, will be coached by representatives of the athletic department at the University of Maine-Presque Isle and will play in a girls baseball national tournament that will be held May 30-June 4 in Kissimmee, Florida. Organizers hope to bring together 12 to 14 girls who would like to pursue the opportunity. WATERVILLE — The 14th annual Fantasy Baseball Trip to benefit the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville will be held Wednesday-Sunday, July 29-Aug. 2. BASKETBALL

BANGOR From May through October, the Maine Athletic Club is offering individual 1-on-1 hourly basketball lessons in shooting, rebounding, passing, position play and fundamental skills. Sessions will include secrets to help players improve skills, especially shooting techniques. A one-hour session is $30 for one player, $15 each for two or $10 apiece for three players. PORTLAND — The 2015 Blue Wave Summer Basketball League for boys and girls in grades two through eight will be held June 22-Aug. 3. There will be a one-hour practice and a game each week. DANFORTH — The 34-Mile Baskahegan Stream Canoe Race from Kossuth to Bancroft will run in conjunction with the East Grand Adventure Race, 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. May 9, East Grand School, 31 Houlton Road. One division: experienced, canoe or kayak. Entry fee $20 per person, which includes trophies, T-shirt, lunch. Proceeds benefit East Grand School’s outdoor education program. PRESQUE ISLE — The eighth annual Aroostook River Fun Run canoe and kayak race, an eight-mile flatwater event from Thomas Brewer Park in Washburn to Presque Isle Fish and Game Club, will be held Saturday, May 16. For those who prefer to pedal or run, an untimed excursion along the rail trail is offered. Proceeds will benefit area Scouts who assist as volunteers on race day. BREWER — The Brewer Parks & Recreation Department is offering Golf “Fore” Women, a four-week lesson program to be held Mondays beginning June 1, at Pine Hill Golf Club. ROCKLAND — The Oceanside Boosters will hold the annual Mariner Mother’s Day 5K Road Race Sunday, May 10, at Oceanside East High School. Walkers will start the course at 9 a.m. and runners will begin at 9:15 a.m. A free Kids Fun Run will be held at 8:30 a.m. for youths up to age 10. Participants are encouraged to preregister and receive a free T-shirt if registered before April 26. Cost is $20 for adults and youth ages 11 and up. On race day, the costs will be $25 per person. GRAY — Patriot 5K race organizers want the all-time Maine 5K record set on its fast and mostly flat lap around scenic Crystal Lake on May 16 and are ready to tack a $1,000 bonus onto the cash prizes to the first runner to break the existing mark: 14:15.72 for men, 16:06.18 for women. The race starts at 9 a.m. Runners can register at www.patriot5k.org. The sixth annual Patriot 5K, known as P5K, will be capped at 1,200 runners this year. The 2015 entry fee is $20 in advance and $25 on race day, if the race is not filled.

AUGUSTA — Not Your Ordinary 5K Sunday, May 17, in the heart of Augusta. Registration opens at 8 a.m. at Capitol Park and the 5K kicks off at 9 a.m. for a timed run or walk with challenges along the route. This out-of-the-box fundraiser pushes you and your teammates to complete challenges that may include puzzles, art, construction, athletic feats, and problem-solving throughout a 5K course. Triathletes will swim 750 meters in Brewer Lake, enjoy the beautiful out and back course through Orrington in the 12.4-mile bike, and enjoy the views from the shores of Brewer Lake in the 3.1 mile out and back run.
