DOVER-FOXCROFT – Lester A. Stevens, 88, husband of Elizabeth (Chase) Stevens, passed away and has gone home to be with the Lord, April 28, 2015, at Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor. He was born October 30, 1926, in Levant, the son of Archie A. and Ada V. (Arnold) Stevens. A U.S. Army veteran, Lester was a retired dairy farmer and a respected member of several farm organizations. He had served as a selectman for the Town of Dover-Foxcroft for nine years, and was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of Bangor; three sons, Arnold Stevens of Lovell, Ronald Stevens of Hermon, and Tony Stevens and his wife, Teena, of Bangor; a daughter, Carol J. Newton and her husband, Donald, of South Paris; two sisters, Barbara Leavitt and her husband, Dana, of St. Albans, and Alice Glover of Skowhegan; nine grandchildren, Jacob, Andrew, Samuel, Aaron, Karry, Katie, Kiley, Matthew, and Kaitlyn; and four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Hunter, Charlotte, and Adelynn. He was predeceased by a brother, Earle Stevens.
Friends are invited to call from 10am until time of memorial service at 11am, Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the Bangor Church of the Nazarene, 1465 Union Street, Bangor, with Tony Stevens officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service at the church. Burial will be in the family lot in the South Dover Cemetery.
