SAN DIEGO – Lorraine K. (Veilleux) Giles, 94, passed away peacefully April 24 2015, at the Gateway Assisted Care Facility, Poway, California. She was born on August 24, 1920 in Brewer, Maine to Philip J. and Anne (Beaupre) Veilleux.
Growing up in Bangor, Maine, she graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School. She married the late Paul C. Giles July 3, 1942, in Buffalo, New York, returned to Bangor to raise a family. She lived in Bangor until 1954 when the family moved to Brewer. In October 1978, upon Paul’s retirement, packed the station wagon and moved to Ocala, Florida. While in Florida she and Paul enjoyed many friends, golf, dancing, and cruises’. In April 2012 moved to San Diego, CA. to be close to family. She was known for always having a good story to tell which kept us all entertained.
She is predeceased by her parents; sisters, Lucille Darling, Joan Caswell, brother Philip Veilleux,, sons Paul and Peter, and beloved husband, Paul C. Giles of 53 years.
Lorraine will be remembered for her love of family and having a good laugh. She is survived by her son Dick Giles, his wife Donna (McInnis) Giles, three grand children, and seven great grand children.
A Memorial mass will be celebrated at ST. Therese’ of Carmel Valley, San Diego, CA. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery in Bangor, Maine.
