PORTLAND, Maine — A 28-year-old motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries in a crash Monday afternoon on Congress Street near Bramhall Street.
The motorcyclist, whose name and hometown were not immediately released, was taken to Maine Medical Center, Jessica Grondin, the city’s spokeswoman said Monday evening in a news release.
The crash happened about 3:40 p.m.
The motorcyclist did not have a passenger aboard and was not wearing a helmet at the time, Grondin said.
She said the motorcycle was heavily damaged and was towed from the crash site.
The accident shut down the section of Congress Street from Ellsworth Street to Bramhall Street for about 90 minutes.
The crash remains under investigation by the Portland Police Department’s traffic unit.
