HIRAM, Maine — The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office says two people were arrested Monday in connection with a string of car thefts last week.

Deputies say they received reports of four stolen vehicles in the Hiram-Brownfield-Fryeburg area on Friday.

All four cars were located but at least three of them were severely damaged.

Two of the cars were found Sunday. Police say the cars were pushed into the Saco River. They were located near the Hiram-Brownfield town line on Route 113. The cars were totaled.

Police say the third car was burned and the fourth car was damaged. Both were found prior to Sunday.

The names of the suspects have not been released.
