NEWPORT, Maine — A Stetson man is facing multiple charges after allegedly punching a teenage girl in the face who witnessed him commit a robbery, police said.

George Bolduc, 32, was allegedly taking metal from a trailer at Newport Metals on Sunday when the female juvenile spotted him, according to Newport Police Chief Leonard Macdaid.

When the female approached Bolduc, he allegedly punched her in the face several times before fleeing in a vehicle, according to Macdaid.

Maine State Police attempted to arrest Bolduc in Stetson but he fled into the woods, Macdaid said. A Newport officer located and arrested Bolduc at approximately 1 a.m. Monday.

Bolduc was charged with robbery and violating conditions of release and taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Monday.
