SKOWHEGAN, Maine — A local man was arrested early Saturday after bolting from police on foot when they got word he was driving a vehicle reported stolen.

Tommy Bouchard, 32, had been stopped on Route 201, known locally as Waterville Road, around 2:20 a.m. but did not stop immediately, Skowhegan Police Chief Ted Blais said.

While Bouchard did not lead police on a vehicle pursuit, he refused to heed warnings to exit the vehicle after he pulled over, and fled into the woods, according to Blais.

Police eventually chased him down and Bouchard was subdued with a Taser and taken into custody, Blais said.

Bouchard was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, refusing to stop for a police officer, refusing to submit to arrest and operating after suspension, Blais said.

Bouchard was booked into Somerset County Jail after his arrest.
