ROCKLAND, Maine — A Port Clyde man remains in jail after he was charged with sexually assaulting a former companion.
Douglas H. Robinson, 40, was arrested shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday and taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland. Bail was denied until he made an initial court appearance, which occurred Wednesday afternoon in Knox County Unified Court.
The district attorney’s office filed charges Wednesday of unlawful sexual contact, unlawful sexual touching and domestic violence assault. At the hearing, Judge Patricia Worth set bail at $5,000 cash.
Defense attorney for the day William Pagnano said Robinson is being held, however, on a hold order from his probation officer. Assistant District Attorney Christopher Fernald said a hearing is pending to revoke Robinson’s probation.
According to an affidavit filed by Knox County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Arthur Smith, the woman reported that Robinson had stopped by her residence on May 11 to drop off their child. He then asked the children in the home to leave the room and when they did, he grabbed the woman and sexually assaulted her.
Police investigated the incident and obtained an arrest warrant, before apprehending Robinson on Tuesday evening.
