CARIBOU, Maine — Residents in some parts of northern Maine kicked off their Memorial Day weekend with snowfall.
The National Weather Service in Caribou reports there were accumulations of approximately 0.3 inches in some parts of northern Maine early Saturday morning.
The snow melted quickly, according to forecaster Mark Bloomer. For Caribou, the weather service predicts a high of 68 degrees Sunday and a high of 78 on Monday.
In Bangor, the high is predicted at 76 on Sunday and 80 and sunny on Monday.
While he did not have exact records available, Bloomer said it is unusual to get snowfall this late in the year, even in northern Maine.
