AUBURN, Maine — Two people, including a Rochester, New York man, were arrested Tuesday in connection with a cocaine and heroin distribution operation in the Lewiston-Auburn area, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Corey McCloud, 19, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Paul Davis, 53, of Lewiston when it was stopped Tuesday in Auburn, according to Spokesman Stephen McCausland.

The stop was made as the vehicle was alleged to be associated with the drug investigation, according to McCausland.

While Davis was arrested for driving with a suspended license, police found 96 bags of heroin and three grams of crack cocaine on McCloud’s possession, and he too was taken into custody, the spokesman said.

The approximate street value of the seized contraband is $3,500.

McCloud was charged with trafficking heroin and crack cocaine and transported to the Androscoggin County Jail. His bail was set at $2,000 and Davis’ at $150.

More arrests are anticipated as the investigation continues.
