HERMON, Maine — Andrew McLaughlin of Harrington qualified on the pole for the 50-lap Hopkins Landscaping Late Model feature event at Speedway 95 Saturday night, took the lead early from outside pole sitter Dean Smart of Bradley and went on to post the victory.

Smart challenged McLaughlin in the early laps, but McLaughlin soon lengthened his lead. At lap 26, the field was slowed by the race’s only caution flag, brought out when Chris Ryan of Newburgh spun in turn three. On the restart, McLaughlin chose the inside and pulled ahead of Smart, maintaining the lead to the end.

Smart had to fend off a strong challenge from 2014 Late Model champion Brenton Parritt in the closing laps, but kept Parritt behind to finish second. Parritt finished third with John Curtis JR, of Hermon and Donnie Blanchard of Orrington rounding out the top five.
