OWLS HEAD, Maine — Cape Air, which serves the Knox County Regional Airport, has added one extra summer flight for a total of six daily round trips to Boston’s Logan International Airport.
Because of the increase in demand, Cape Air will be augmenting its existing schedule from June 24 through Sept. 8 with the additional flight, according to the company in a news release.
“Strong community support in the Rockland region and all of Maine has enabled Cape Air’s service to grow and remain sustainable for travelers of all kinds,” Linda Markham, president of Cape Air/Nantucket Airlines, said.
Airport Manager Jeffrey Northgraves said he is excited about the added flight and looks forward to seeing Cape Air continue to grow at the airport.
Cape Air started service at the airport in February 2008 and has seen a strong increase in the amount of passenger traffic. Last year, Cape Air carried more than 13,000 passengers in and out of the Knox County Regional Airport. Cape Air serves Augusta State Airport and Bar Harbor-Hancock County Regional Airport in Maine, as well as 16 additional airports in New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.
