OAKLAND, Maine — A trio from New York are facing drug charges after an investigation spanning several months concluded with their arrests on Monday, according to officials.
Arrested were Jason Funderburke, 29, of New York City and Michael Hill, 23, and Victoria Atz, 23, both of Coram, New York, according to a statement from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
On Monday, MDEA agents learned that the trio were in the Oakland area and in possession of drugs imported from outside of Maine with the intent to sell in Maine, according to the statement.
At the time, Funderburke was being sought on charges of distributing crack cocaine and heroin to an undercover drug agent earlier this year.
The trio’s vehicle was stopped by Oakland police around 10 a.m. Monday, and 22 grams of heroin and 14 grams of crack cocaine were found in the vehicle, the statement said, along with 8.5 grams of crack cocaine at an Audrey Lane home that the suspects had left just prior to being stopped.
Funderburke was charged with three counts of aggravated trafficking in crack and heroin, a Class A felony, while Hill and Atz are both charged with unlawful trafficking in crack and heroin, the statement said.
All three were taken to the Kennebec County Jail, where bail was set at $75,000 for Funderburke and $2,500 apiece for Hill and Atz.
The street value of the seized drugs is approximately $8,000. Drug agents were assisted by state police, Oakland police and the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
More arrests in connection with the investigation are possible.
