Each week the BDN Maine Outdoors team takes a look at different gear you might need for your next outdoor adventure. For this week’s Gear Bag, we looked at the Mountain Hardwear Laminar 45 synthetic sleeping bag.
What is it? The Mountain Hardwear Laminar 45 synthetic sleeping bag is a great basic, entry-level sleeping bag that Doug Farrell, assistant store manager of Epic Sports, suggests for anyone looking to go backpack camping this summer.
Why do I need it? The warm, affordable, water-repellent synthetic bag is rated at 45 degrees Fahrenheit and will be perfect for mid-summer camping. The synthetic material is more durable to water than a down filled bag, allowing the user to wash the bag when needed. The Laminar 45 is very compressible and can be compressed down to the size of a Nalgene bottle. Weighing just under a pound and a half, this bag won’t bog down your pack.
How much does it cost? The Mountain Hardwear Laminar 45 will only set you back $160.
Where do I find it? The Mountain Hardwear Laminar 45 is available at Epic Sports in Bangor.
