WINDHAM, Maine — A man has been arrested and charged with arson after allegedly setting fire to his ex-girlfriend’s residence late Thursday, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Curtis Crawford, 45, is being held without bail at the Cumberland County Jail, according to Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Crawford was found by Windham police waiting for a taxi at a convenience store about a half-mile from the scene, McCausland said.

According to investigators, gasoline was poured along the front of the house, which subsequently was lit ablaze by Crawford, McCausland said.

Nobody was home, and the blaze caused about $20,000 in damage.

Crawford had been dropped off at the residence earlier Thursday night and was carrying a gasoline can. He had been living out of a Westbrook motel.
