CARTHAGE, Maine — Franklin County sheriff’s deputies are investigating vandalism to multiple headstones at Winter Hill Cemetery, according to Sheriff Scott Nichols.
Nichols said the vandalism is believed to have taken place between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The sheriff said police learned of the incident on Sunday.
Numerous headstones were found overturned and flags ripped apart, Nichols said.
