BANGOR — Clayton A. Rogers will hold a recital of organ and piano music at 7:30 p.m.Friday, June 12, to celebrate 60 years of service to Columbia Street Baptist Church in Bangor. Rogers will perform a variety of classical, sacred and secular music.
The public is invited to attend and help celebrate the special event. There will be a time of refreshments and conversation after the performance.
In addition to being the church organist, Rogers was also the choir director for a number of years, tenor soloist and song leader. Rogers attended the New England Conservatory of Music, Northern Conservatory of Music, Hudson College and the University of Maine. He taught business education at Brewer High School until his retirement in 1988 and maintained a piano studio for 48 years and taught some 300 piano students. He is a member of the American Guild of Organists, Bangor chapter, joining in November 1955.
Rogers continues to share his gift with many in the community by performing at area nursing and retirement homes.
